Elderberry has been a powerful respiratory illness fighter for years. But the elderberry syrups you find on the store shelves are full of extra ingredients that aren’t good for you, and they’re full of sugar. We made these elderberry kits so that you can know exactly what you’re getting and be in control of how sweet you want to make it, and what you want to sweeten it with!

Our syrup kits are special because we don’t just use elderberries alone. We also add other immune-supporting and anti-inflammatory herbs to create a tasty herbal remedy that powerfully fights cold and flu symptoms.

We offer two kits: Immune Support for daily use to help protect the family from illness and Cough and Cold to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs. Keep both in the house year round to promote overall wellness and recover quickly should sickness occur. Complete directions are included with each elderberry syrup kit. To make each kit, all you need is water and raw honey, maple syrup, or organic sugar.

Q: What is the difference between this and Elderberry Elixir?

A: Elderberry Elixir is a concentrated tincture in either glycerin or alcohol. Elderberry syrup is not as concentrated so your dose per day is larger.

Q: What is the difference between the two kits?

A: Immune Support is for daily use to help protect the family from illness. Cough and Cold is to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs.

Q: If I swap out the honey for maple syrup, can I give this to my child under the age of 1?

A: Yes!

Q: Will taking Elderberry syrup cause me to have a “cytokine storm?”

A: Elderberry can increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may be associated with a cytokine reaction and severe complications.  But, elderberry has never explicitly been associated with a cytokine storm nor causing any problems with immune function.

You can read more in depth information here.

Q: Is it safe to take Elderberry syrup if you have an autoimmune disease?

A: Elderberry is safe for most people, but we recommend caution for individuals with autoimmune diseases and those on blood thinners. Caution is warranted in individuals with autoimmune conditions. We recommend trying elderberry for immune support when not sick to see how you’ll react to it.  Don’t try it for the first time when sick. If you find you respond negatively to elderberries, astragalus root may be a better option.

Q: Can I take Elderberry syrup for all viral illnesses, or just cold and flu?

A: Elderberry syrup can be taken for all viral illnesses due to the nature of the herbs we use! All of the herbs can be used to aid your immune response to all viral illnesses, not just the cold and flu viruses.

Q: How much does this make?

A: Approximately 2 cups.

Q: What is the shelf life of this kit? What about the dry ingredients?

A: Shelf life is one year for the dry ingredients. Shelf life for the syrup is one month if refrigerated.

Q: I followed the instructions but there was hardly any liquid left!

A: If you feel like there isn’t much liquid left, you can add water to the finished product. Dosage will not change.

Q: Do you boil it the whole time?

A: Once the water has reached a boil, you add the spices and then turn the water down to a low simmer for 15-20 minutes. After that, remove it from the heat and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before adding your sweetener of choice.

Q: Does it need to be refrigerated?

A: Because there are no preservatives it will need to be refrigerated to last you a long time.

This is so much fun to make. It makes your house smell amazing while cooking it and it tastes great. I give this to my toddler everyday and she always looks forward to it 10/10!

  2. Jamie Phillips (verified owner)

This is the only elderberry syrup my daughter (9) will willingly drink without fussing about the taste. We use local honey from blackberry bushes and it’s fabulous. Seems she has less sick days during those peak months when we keep up on this!

  3. Skylar Chiles (verified owner)

Very easy to make and tastes delicious! I used local honey made right down the street from my house for added seasonal allergies benefits!

  4. Brianna H (verified owner)

So easy to make! And my family loves the taste. My toddler gets excited when he sees me pull the jar out of the fridge. And my husband doesn’t fight me on taking it either. Win win!

Delicious, Immune Boosting Gateway to DIY medicine. I don’t know why but the elderberries daunted me and this kit made it so simple to create a tasty and effective syrup that now I’m hooked! If you’re buying it for children, it would be best for older kids who know their way around the kitchen a bit (maybe 10 and up) since it involves boiling and transferring boiling contents around. My oldest is four and enjoyed helping strain and stir in the honey once everything had been cooled. Bonus : I do believe it helps shorten family sick time.

  6. Beth Cross (verified owner)

I absolutely love these!! I had always wanted to make my own elderberry syrup but it seemed complicated. With these all you do is boil the contents and then add local honey. So simple and tastes amazing! Also seems to be super cost efficient.

  7. briharper35 (verified owner)

Love that the kit makes it so easy to make good elderberry syrup and can use local honey to sweeten! My whole family doesn’t mind getting their elderberry fix in with this kit.

  8. Rebecca

I was really excited to try this, but I must have done something incorrectly. It was very easy to cook and smelled great. However, when the time was done, as it said on the bag, my batch was super thick and there wasn’t much to use. I do want to try this again.

So easy to make and it tastes great! My family loves it and my kids ask for it every morning.

  10. Amanda Cowen (verified owner)

These are super easy to make and help keep us healthy during the season. I like these better than any syrup from the store as you can tell they are pure.

I made this just this morning. I added a cup more of water than the directions stated. It did male more but it is a little less than syrup consistency so I’ll do just 2 cups next time. Taste great and amazing product. Will buy again. I added manuka honey and honey for flavor and kids appeal. My daughter loves it. We will be taking this daily for immune support. Very easy directions and easy to make.

  13. Katie Hallmark (verified owner)

Very easy to make, and I appreciate the options. It gave me confidence to buy dried elderberries on my own to make syrup.

  14. rweed7979 (verified owner)

I absolutely love this elderberry kit! My kids love the taste, which is saying something when it comes to my picky son. So easy to make, and lasts us quite a while!

  15. Grace Robinson (verified owner)

This kit made it super easy to make our own elderberry syrup and I loved that we could use local honey to help with allergies too. The only issue we ran into is that it isn’t shelf stable and we didn’t actually use it all before it went bad so that’s just something to keep in mind! Were sticking with the shelf stable elderberry tincture and a spoonful of local honey now

  16. Isel Salinas (verified owner)

This kit has everything you need for a rich elderberry syrup. I always wanted to make my own and this kit made it so simple. All I did was follow the instructions and added my local honey. It worked wonders! My son and I started get tickles in our throats and runny noses that disappeared within 2 days
    Highly recommend

Turned out yummy and my kids loved it! Didn’t notice a difference in our immunity, though- we were still sick all winter and spring. This is the second time I’ve used elderberry syrup during the cold season and didn’t notice a difference in my wellness, so I don’t think it has anything to do with Earthley’s product quality. It just isn’t the right immunity booster for my family.

Omg these kits!! I don’t even know how many I’ve purchased at this point but I looove them!! They’re so easy to make and after adding a little Manuka honey to it, it tastes great! It also lasts in the fridge for a long time. My hubby and I take it any time we feel something coming on or even for allergies just to have an immune boost! Really great stuff!! And more affordable in my opinion than the elderberry syrups I’ve come across at stores!

Easy instructions, tastes great, great price!!
