Common Ways to Use Green Rooibos

Green rooibos is predominantly dried and used to make tea.

Growing and Foraging Information

The rooibos leaf is harvested once per year starting at 12-18 months. After cutting young branches by hand, the stems and leaves are bundled for ease of transport to a processing center. Here, the rooibos is chopped and piled in rows. After that, they are typically fermented. Green rooibos is not fermented. Red rooibos is the name given to rooibos that has been fermented.

Safety Concerns

There are no known concerns, as this is typically used as a tea to drink. As with any food, it is possible to be allergic to rooibos.

Drug Interaction: If you have any health concerns or are taking any prescription medication, please consult with your health care provider before adding new herbs to your diet.
