In the fall and winter months, the flu shot is pushed everywhere. But is it right for everyone? We examine in the science in a no-nonsense, non-judgmental, science-based guide. All sources are linked for further research. We encouraged an informed choice (no matter what it is), and offer suggestions for “what next?” for those who opt not to get a flu shot.
These days, the flu shot is pushed everywhere.
On TV. On the radio. In the grocery store. On every street corner. It’s impossible to escape.
But what they don’t mention is, the flu shot may not be right for everyone.
Currently, fewer than 50% of people in the US get a flu shot annually, even though they are recommended for everyone 6 months and up.
The smartest thing to do when making any health decision is to ask questions. Questions like:
- Does the flu shot work?
- What are the side effects and how common are they?
- How serious is the flu?
- Are there other options to protect my health?
The mainstream isn’t doing a good job of explaining the science, and encouraging people to make thoughtful decisions. We think that’s a bad thing, so we created this guide.
We don’t draw conclusions. We don’t tell you what decision to make. We simply present the science (which is included in the ‘resources’ section at the end) so that you can make your own informed decision.
