Elderberry has been a powerful respiratory illness fighter for years. But the elderberry syrups you find on the store shelves are full of extra ingredients that aren’t good for you, and they’re full of sugar. We made these elderberry kits so that you can know exactly what you’re getting and be in control of how sweet you want to make it, and what you want to sweeten it with!

Our syrup kits are special because we don’t just use elderberries alone. We also add other immune-supporting and anti-inflammatory herbs to create a tasty herbal remedy that powerfully fights cold and flu symptoms.

We offer two kits: Immune Support for daily use to help protect the family from illness and Cough and Cold to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs. Keep both in the house year round to promote overall wellness and recover quickly should sickness occur. Complete directions are included with each elderberry syrup kit. To make each kit, all you need is water and raw honey, maple syrup, or organic sugar.

Q: What is the difference between this and Elderberry Elixir?

A: Elderberry Elixir is a concentrated tincture in either glycerin or alcohol. Elderberry syrup is not as concentrated so your dose per day is larger.

Q: What is the difference between the two kits?

A: Immune Support is for daily use to help protect the family from illness. Cough and Cold is to soothe the sniffles, sore throats, and coughs.

Q: If I swap out the honey for maple syrup, can I give this to my child under the age of 1?

A: Yes!

Q: Will taking Elderberry syrup cause me to have a “cytokine storm?”

A: Elderberry can increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may be associated with a cytokine reaction and severe complications.  But, elderberry has never explicitly been associated with a cytokine storm nor causing any problems with immune function.

You can read more in depth information here.

Q: Is it safe to take Elderberry syrup if you have an autoimmune disease?

A: Elderberry is safe for most people, but we recommend caution for individuals with autoimmune diseases and those on blood thinners. Caution is warranted in individuals with autoimmune conditions. We recommend trying elderberry for immune support when not sick to see how you’ll react to it.  Don’t try it for the first time when sick. If you find you respond negatively to elderberries, astragalus root may be a better option.

Q: Can I take Elderberry syrup for all viral illnesses, or just cold and flu?

A: Elderberry syrup can be taken for all viral illnesses due to the nature of the herbs we use! All of the herbs can be used to aid your immune response to all viral illnesses, not just the cold and flu viruses.

Q: How much does this make?

A: Approximately 2 cups.

Q: What is the shelf life of this kit? What about the dry ingredients?

A: Shelf life is one year for the dry ingredients. Shelf life for the syrup is one month if refrigerated.

Q: I followed the instructions but there was hardly any liquid left!

A: If you feel like there isn’t much liquid left, you can add water to the finished product. Dosage will not change.

Q: Do you boil it the whole time?

A: Once the water has reached a boil, you add the spices and then turn the water down to a low simmer for 15-20 minutes. After that, remove it from the heat and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before adding your sweetener of choice.

Q: Does it need to be refrigerated?

A: Because there are no preservatives it will need to be refrigerated to last you a long time.

This was my first time using this product. The instruction’s are easy to follow and has great tasting ingredients. I made gummies and they held up for weeks. Would definitely buy again.

  2. Brenda (verified owner)

I love this product! So easy to make and tastes great!

  3. Erica (verified owner)

Excellent product. Quick shipping. Yielded a little less than 2 cups, but instructions clearly state to add water . Very pleasant flavor.

  4. Allie salas (verified owner)

So easy. So fast. It’s easy to make and it only takes about 15 minutes tops. I thought I was gonna be boiling forever! And it taste sooooooooo good. Bonus

  5. jhanley25 (verified owner)

I love the price and ease of use, however I did not get a full 2 cups from this. I even added an extra half cup but it evaporates in the boiling process other than that I love it.

  6. Brittney Stanford (verified owner)

By far the best tasting elderberry syrup me and my family have tried. AND we get to make it together. So thankful I found this product.

I would definitely recommend having this on hand “just in case.” It’s a simple, easy to use kit, great for a first-timer, or someone like me who doesn’t want to spend $30+ on just a bag of dried elderberries to make my own. Has a nice taste, and my son took it without a fight.

  8. Ashley (verified owner)

Although we use the Elderberry Elixir also for daily support, I like having this kit on hand for when sickness hits our home. I LOVE that it has added beneficial herbs (over other kits out there) along with the elderberries to really kick illnesses in the butt and aid our immune systems!

I was disappointed with how much this makes; I was expecting more than what I got out of it but that also could be user error. I ordered another to try it out again. BUT it DOES work. My grandparents were sick (pretended that it wasn’t the flu because they got the flu shot and it couldn’t possibly be that lol) but it helped them get over it in almost 2 days when they’d been sick for a few days prior! Knocked it right out and they felt so much better. I didn’t really like the taste but I also didn’t sweeten it with honey or anything. This was my first go at elderberry syrup and overall I was satisfied! Hopefully I’ll get more out of the second pack I bought!

This elderberry syrup kit is perfect! Easy to follow directions, and it doesn’t take very long. Tastes good too! Lasted my family of three a month!

  11. Ashley B. (verified owner)

This is a great elderberry kit for making your own syrup – so simple to make and tastes yummy! We just ran out of our first batch after a few colds and a stomach virus ran through our family. We have now purchased multiple kits to have on hand and for extended family.

  12. DRM (verified owner)

I love the Elderberry Illness kit. I buy several of these a year. Whenever we are feeling a little run down, or have been around a lot of people during flu season, I make this up. It seems to help us feel better and stay healthy. Even my husband likes to take this stuff. But my two sons really love it.

Easy way to make eldberry without having to buy all the Ingredients! Just add honey

  14. Jean

I’ve bought this kit more than once! It’s great kit that’s ready to be made and with clear instructions. Helps naturally boost the immune system to get over illnesses quickly. It tastes good as is, or can be mixed in juice, etc., if there’s a need to mask the taste for little ones. Just a reminder to those making it: wait til the water cools before mixing in the honey, as hot water will compromise the good properties of raw honey. I forgot this the first time I made it! It’s fine as is without honey too, or sometimes I use just a little maple syrup instead of honey.

  15. Wendy (verified owner)

I was pleased with the price and the quality of the elderberries. It comes with easy to follow instructions and you can make it when you want. I plan to make elderberry popsicles and gummies with this also.

  16. Tara (verified owner)

This is a great option for little ones! They don’t mind the taste!

  17. Melissa (verified owner)

This is great to keep on hand in case someone starts to get sick. My toddler loves it too!

  18. Susan Roberts (verified owner)

Love this kiit!! Earthley makes is so easy and convenient. I bought 3 to always have it on hand!

  19. Kara (verified owner)

I ordered this when I was visiting my family in another state who all were coming down with a summer virus. I hadn’t brought my dried elderberries and refuse to use premade elderberry products. I started feeling sick, sore throat, congestion, hard to breathe the day before it arrived. It was straightforward to make as everything is ready to dump in the water. My family stayed sick for almost two weeks and I was better in 2.5 days. I’d say it worked!

Pricing was good, shipping was fast but only made 10oz.
