Cleans ok but it left an awful oil residue in the dishwasher filter which was very difficult to remove. Won’t be using again.

  2. Valerie Hosfeld (verified owner)

This product was horrible. It left my dishes dirty and with a powdery film even days after I stopped using it. It is not unlike other non-toxic or DIY dishwasher soaps I have used. And I have an extremely good dishwasher. The soap really did not work and left my washer with lots of residue too. I even used the vinegar rinse aid.

  3. Amanda Stamm (verified owner)

I’m not thrilled with it as I feel I visually have soap residue left on my dishes and they don’t always come clean (even after rinsing them before putting in the dishwasher). I was going to use up the rest of it before changing dw soaps but thinking at this point I’ll just throw the rest out, sadly. I don’t like having a film on my glasses/ dishes.

  4. Dove arnett (verified owner)

Sad this detergent is not working for us. Our dishes repeatedly come out with a greasy film on them. We rinse them off, use the hottest water, and the longest cycle. Our filter is clean.

I purchased two scents. I even added vinegar as a rinse agent hoping that would help, but it did not. Finally, I decided to spray diluted Green Gobbler Orange Oil in the dishwasher before running each load, and the dishes and glasses are coming out pretty clean. The orange oil only has the oil and an “emulsifier.”

So, I have found a work-around to keep using Earthley auto dish soap for now.

I got the unscented in this product. It worked amazing for us for a while. Dishes came out 100% clean with no film. Then after months, the glasses started coming out cloudy. I have no idea why. We tried cleaning the filter, but it didn’t work. We also have not great well water & have gone through 4 dishwashers in the last 1 1/2 years, so it could be that.

My dishes come out clean!! I love being able to read what’s in the detergent and I can’t wait to try the grapefruit scent. I love the thyme-lemon scent. At first my kiddos (9 and 6) thought it was a little strong but now they don’t even notice it. Definitely a staple in our home now.

  7. Savannah Sanders (verified owner)

I washed to love this and I have tried it many different ways but it just leaves my dishes greasy. I’ve cleaned my dishwasher and tried with a vinegar rinse but have the same results. My dishwasher is only 2 years old so I know it’s a good one.

  8. Jessica Pavlik (verified owner)

Left a white film all over most of my dishes in addition to none of my silverware coming clean! I wanted to love it. I even rinse before washing. I tried less powder and still had the same issue with the white film. I tried a longer wash time which still didn’t work. I’m sad bc I really want to find a clean dishwasher soap!

I wrote my original 1 star review on 2/2/22 but I wanted to update it to 5 stars after being contacted by Earthley. It was suggested to add vinegar in the rinse feature which I don’t have because I have an older, basic dishwasher. I added a cup of vinegar to a bowl which I then placed on top of the dishes and ran it as usual. I was relieved and ecstatic that the dishes came out clean and clear which led me to come and update my unfair, previous rating. If you live in an area with hard water, use a vinegar rinse. This powder does work and you’ll be rewarded with a heavenly scent with each cycle. Thank you Earthley for reaching out and saving me from storing the bag in the back of my cleaning cabinet. I will def. try other items from the line.

This is the first toxic free dishwasher powder I have ever found that actually works!!! Not only does it get the dishes spotless clean; but it works even better than the “normal stuff”. I’ve tried making my own, more natural products, but eventually just went back to the Costco tablets. When I saw this; I thought I would give it a try because I’ve been so pleased with other Earthley products. Well I’m glad I did!!! Now I have something that works and I can feel good about for my family and the environment!!! Thanks Earthley!!!

Love the smell! What a fantastic detergent without all the toxic chemicals!

  12. Chantal McDougal (verified owner)

I love the ingredients in this product however I felt like my dishes came out still dirty unless they were cleaned well before being put in dishwasher.

  13. kate (verified owner)

I was happy to find a clean dish detergent. This detergent cleans the dishes well. My only complaint is sometimes there is a film on the dishes. Although it wipes off easily with a dish towel. Perhaps I don’t always get the correct ratio of detergent to vinegar. However I would prefer this minor inconvenience to a toxic dish detergent. I continue to buy this product

  14. Lorraine (verified owner)

This dishwasher detergent works great. All my dishes come out clean and I only rinse the ones with stuck on food. My dishwasher also doesn’t smell like it did when I was using Finish packs. Thank you for including a scoop!

  15. Shelby Lucas (verified owner)

I left a review earlier stating that I could not get this product to work, as it left a thick, white film on everything no matter what I tried. I stopped using it, but not only did my dishes not get better, but all my sinks turned white. I realized our water softener for our city water had died. That has been replaced, and I gave the dishwasher detergent a second try. It works perfectly, and I am so very happy to have something with truly safe ingredients to put in my dishwasher. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it only works in soft water.

  16. Teresa Severns (verified owner)

Ooooh how I wanted to love this detergent! I really loved the smell and it leaves the dishes wonderfully scented. Unfortunately, it also left a white grainy residue on most dishes and over the course of using the bag of detergent it clogged my dishwasher drain (and boy, it was massively sticky and hard to clean) We use a Beko dishwasher and used the detergent according to instructions. Needless to say, this is one product I will not try again.

  17. Meagan (verified owner)

So it doesn’t clean my dishes the way I had hoped, but since the ingredients are so clean, I will continue to buy and just let my dishes sit in hot water until I’m ready to load the dishwasher at the end of the night.

  18. Kylie (verified owner)

This did not work for us. I don’t know what we did wrong, but it left the dishes first and the filter super gunky. I wish it had worked better!

  19. Nicole (verified owner)

We finally ran out of the toxic chemical detergent and I switched over to using this. I’ve tried the 1tbsp recommendation and the 2tbsp as recommended by a reviewer. I always use vinegar in the rinse aid. I’ve played with different washing settings on my dishwasher and no matter what, same exact results. Dirty, film filled dishes. I really wanted to like this being a safer alternative, but I’m better off washing my dishes by hand. Very glad others have had success, just wish I could have been one of those!

I wanted to love this so badly but after pulling out the first few dishes, I paused to ask myself if I even ran the dishwasher. There was a white gritty film on all of my clear glass dishes and plates. It wasn’t as noticeable on the mugs because those are opaque. I had to hand wash most of the load after to get them clean. I live in OC, CA and we do have hard water here so that may be the issue. It’s been well over the 30 days because I waited until I used up my previous dishwasher cleaner. Word of advice- never wait to use your products. Give them a couple of test runs as soon as you receive them in case you want to do an exchange or return. I’ve purchased dozens of products from Earthley and loved them all but I’ll probably stay away from the cleaning products.
