Q: Is Arnica safe for open wounds?

A: We advise against using arnica on open wounds (All-Purpose Salve is a better option here), but a small amount is likely not going to hurt.  If you accidentally use it on a bump that has a small cut, don’t worry!  Avoid on larger wounds.

Q: How does this compare to homeopathic arnica? Is this homeopathic?

A: This is herbal arnica.  We take whole flowers and infuse them in olive oil.  Homeopathic arnica comes on little pellets and is very dilute.  There are times you may want to use both, depending on what is going on (for example, if you strain a large muscle, taking both would be beneficial).

Q: Is this different or better than creams, gels, or ointments from the store?

A: We think so!  Check the ingredients on other options — most have benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, or other things you don’t want on your skin.  Ours is pure organic olive oil, organic arnica flowers, and candelilla wax — that’s it!

I am a believer in the arnica salve!
It really works! My two year old ran straight into a corner of a wood table. Hitting the side of his face. He hit so hard. It broke the skin. My sister-in-law, Maryellen Brumbaugh, who loves your products! And has now become a part of your affiliate program. Pulled her arnica stick out of her bag and we immediately rubbed some on!
    It never bruised or swelled!
I can’t wait to order some!

We use this for all our bumps and bruises, but the most obvious improvement I’ve seen when using this is when my infant propelled himself off my lap and onto the floor hurting his arm. He wouldn’t move his arm and cried when it was touched. I was afraid it was broken, but after hours in the urgent car and X-rays we went home with directions to take Tylenol every few hours. I didn’t want to do that, and then remembered my arnica salve. Within 20 min he was totally fine! Wish I hadn’t freaked out and thought about it hours before. It would have saved us a trip to urgent care and my little one hours of pain and suffering. I recommend this to everyone!

This works absolute wonders on sore muscles and bruises!
Put it on my sciatica and the next morning it was SO much better!
I also used it on my toddlers forehead after she got a pretty big bruise and it was almost completely gone after just 2 uses.

Yes. Arnica is great for aches and pains. I love the travel size because I keep it in a drawer and can always find it when I need it. It goes on gently, and is so soothing.

  5. Laura (verified owner)

A great product to have with you wherever you go! I use it mostly for my children on their ouchies. It goes on smoothly which is a bonus!

  6. Elizabeth Pinska

I love this salve for bruises! Multiple times I’ve had a child get bumped around their eye which would have caused a black eye, but when I apply this salve around it a couple times a day, a bruise doesn’t even show up!

  7. Tara (verified owner)

My husband uses this for collar bone pain and says it really helps! He broke it when he was younger and it never healed correctly, so it will bother him from time to time from lifting or housework. I also use it for my two year old when he gets bumps and bruises. He loves the idea of it making his owie feel better! Haha!

  8. BJS

I love the handy size for travel, purses or just ease of use. When one of my toddlers falls and bumps there head or any other significant bump, Arnica to the rescue and in a few seconds I can apply the salve to the bump. It seems to not only help with pain but reduce the evidence and bruising and it also helps my 1 year old with her tight neck muscles.
