A: Elderberry can increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which may be associated with a cytokine reaction and severe complications. Q: Is it safe to take Elderberry Elixir if you have an autoimmune disease?

Accepted Answer

A: Elderberry is safe for most people, but we recommend caution for individuals with autoimmune diseases and those on blood thinners. We recommend trying elderberry for immune support when not sick to see how you’ll react to it (it works well for some, but may contribute to a flare in others). Don’t try it for the first time when sick. If you find you respond negatively to elderberry, astragalus root may be a better option.

Q: How do I take this? Can I mix this with juice or a smoothie?

A: All of our tinctures can be taken sublingually (under the tongue), orally, or in juice, water, smoothies, applesauce, etc. -- except for Digest-Support, which must be taken alone with as little water as possible 20 minutes before a meal. If giving multiples, they can be mixed together in a cup -- except for Digest-Support, which must be taken alone with as little water as possible 20 minutes before a meal. Be sure not to let the dropper touch the mouth as this can cause contamination. When taking yourself, drop from above your mouth under your tongue. When giving to someone else, ask them to open their mouth and lean their head back so you can drop it in.

Q: There is sediment at the bottom of my tincture bottle or discoloration of the dropper; what is it?

Accepted Answer

A: Since our products are made from herbs, sometimes herbal sediment isn’t completely strained. Chances are, if you notice any sediment at the bottom of the bottle or discoloration at the tip of the dropper, it’s from the herbs. As long as the and doesn’t smell rancid, it’s still safe to use.

Q: Is there a difference between Alcohol and Alcohol-free (glycerin)?

Accepted Answer

A: Yes! The difference is not in the age at which the tincture should be taken but in the menstruum (or liquid base) of the tincture and its taste. Alcohol-based tinctures extract herbal properties in slightly different ways than other menstruums. Along with the strong extracting powers comes the strong taste of alcohol, however. This taste may not be for everyone. Alcohol-free or glycerin-based extracts are powerful yet at extracting herbal properties, just some properties in different ways. The big advantage of glycerin is that it has a very sweet taste. So, while both are great for adults and kids alike, alcohol-free will give you the best chance for kids to like the taste. A: Yes, all Earthley Wellness products are safe to take together, except Digest Support. That should be taken 30 minutes before meals with as little water as possible for best results.

A: Yes! Plants and what is provided in nature are a lot more effective than you may know! There are lots of studies about what they can do in our bodies. Q: When do products expire? What are the shelf life of your items?

Accepted Answer

A: In order to be FDA compliant, we are no longer able to put a Best By or Expiration Date on our products. We do, however, have our Lot Number on all products, which can be found as a 7-digit number either printed on the label or a sticker placed on the container. This will tell the day the product was finished. An example would be the lot number #2124005. 🟩 The first two numbers will indicate the year it was made. So for the above lot, the first two numbers are 21 and so it was made in the year 2021. 🟩 The next three numbers will indicate the day of the year it was made using the Julian Calendar. So the "240" day of the year would end up being the 12th of August. 🟩 The last two numbers will show the batch number made that day. So "05" would be the 5th batch made that day. 🟩 This would mean that the product was finished on August 12, 2021 and was the 5th product made that day. Shelf Life For Products: Because our products are 100% natural with no artificial preservatives, they do expire. The expiration dates are very loose estimates and products usually last much longer. You can extend the shelf life by keeping your products in the refrigerator, although it is not required. Products are safe to use past the expiration date, as long as they do not smell rancid (oil-based) or have visible mold (this is very rare unless contamination has occurred -- usually from mouth contact on the dropper).
